Electoral Commission recommends continued use of eVACS®
|
The ACT Electoral Commission in its review of Electronic Voting and Counting at the 2004 election recommends continued use of Software Improvements eVACS®.
Specifically the Commission has recommended:
- electronic counting using eVACS® continue to be standard practice at ACT elections, and
- electronic voting using eVACS® be offered again at the 2008 election.
The Commission has also recommended two improvements to electronic voting:
- having the volume of the spoken instructions adjustable for voters in noisy environments, and
- using different fonts* for party names and candidates for ease of reading by voters.
The full report is available as the 2004 Review at http://www.elections.act.gov.au/elections/electronicvoting.html
* Current font arrangements reflect arrangements for paper ballots.
